About Us

As American Baptists, we believe…

1) … in God, the Father, as Creator and Sustainer of life. God is holy and worthy of our praise, worship and commitment. 6) … in believer’s baptism. Baptism is only for believers and the mode is immersion in water, as is taught in the New Testament.
2) … that Jesus is our Savior and Lord. He is the only begotten Son of God. Jesus died for the sins of humanity, was buried, and was resurrected on the third day. It is by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, that people are saved. 7) … in the autonomy of the local church. Each local congregation is self-governing, choosing its own pastor and managing its own affairs. But we must also believe in volunteer cooperation in associated fellowship with other Baptist churches.
3) … in the Holy Spirit. At salvation, God places His Spirit in the life of each believer. 8) … in the Great Commission and take seriously the call to evangelize the world, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with all people.
4) …that the Bible is the absolute inspired Word of God and is the authority for faith and life. 9) … in the absolute independence of the church from any governmental or civil authority.
5) … in the priesthood of all believers. Every person can approach God directly, through Christ.
